Ciprés-(Cupressus)-(f14v)

Cypress (Cupressus) (f14v)

Cypress is a tree of well-known medicinal virtue, by which pain is alleviated. Its leaves are ground and prepared for remedy, and its substance is cooked with gum or resin, kneaded together with some of its crushed fruits. Mixed with fat and set upon the fire, various preparations are made, some milder and others stronger, as the condition requires. The seeds, together with the leaves and fruits, are boiled to make a medicine against pains of oppression or swelling. Bandages made from its leaves are of great benefit, and the preparations in which the fruit is included are held to be more effective. Thus applied, the leaves act as a firm and proven external remedy.
